Postal worker accused of stealing Virginia Beach mail

A 53-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker faces federal charges after police say she stole mail from Virginia Beach residents.

Lorre A. Garrison was arrested on Oct. 13 after police say she hid mail she was supposed to deliver and stole items from mail, according to documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Police believe she hid the mail in her home between Dec. 11, 2014 and Jan. 7, 2015. They also think she stole items from the mail from January 2015 to February 2015.

The indictment against Garrison was sealed on April 22, 2015, and unsealed on Oct. 13 after her arrest, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman Joshua Stueve.

She is in custody, according to court documents.
