Hampton Roads “Jeopardy!” fans will see a familiar site featured Monday in the popular trivia game show. The Battleship Wisconsin will appear as a clue in the category “The Twentieth Century,” according to a release from Nauticus, where the ship is docked.
The game show’s Clues Crew visited Norfolk in October to film the legendary ship, according to the release. The crew filmed multiple clues about the Battleship; the segments will air throughout the year as a part of “Jeopardy’s” Clues Across America Series.
At the risk of stepping on Alex Trebek’s clues, the Battleship Wisconsin was commissioned in 1944 and departed Norfolk on July 7 of that year for the British West Indies. It was recommissioned twice — in 1951 for the Korean War and in 1988 for President Ronald Reagan’s 600-ship Navy. It came to Nauticus on Dec. 7, 2000.
“Jeopardy!” airs at 7:30 p.m. on WVEC. Clues Across America will also include segments with local ABC-TV affiliate anchors, including WVEC’s Lucy Bustamante, the Nauticus release said.
