VIRGINIA BEACH — Mayor Will Sessoms’s initial court date on charges he violated the state’s Conflict of Interest Act has been postponed.
Sessoms’ case was set for a hearing Monday in General District Court, but online court records show that has been rescheduled to 8:30 a.m. Dec. 28. When charged, the prosecutor said the tentative court date was likely to be pushed back.
The mayor faces five misdemeanor counts of violating the state’s Conflict of Interest Act. The charges stem from council votes he took that benefited his private employer at the time, TowneBank.
