Teen hurt in Virginia Beach after standing on moving jeep for a ‘stunt,’ police say

A 17-year-old was injured Wednesday morning when he tried to stand on an older modeled jeep while it was driven by another teen as a stunt, Virginia Beach Police said.

The teen fell off the back of the vehicle and hit his head on the street, according to a summary from police. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with a broken collar bone, road rash, bumps and bruises, police said. He will be released to his parents and charged with not wearing a seat belt  and riding in an unauthorized space, police said.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was charged with reckless driving, police said. The department said no names could be released because of the ages.

The incident happened about 10 a.m. at the intersection of Legare Lane and Dalrymple Street near Tallwood High School.
