38th Annual Turkey Trot: The Tidewater Striders will host their annual 1-mile and 10K races. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with the 1-mile beginning at 8 a.m. and the 10K at 9 a.m. There will be prizes and refreshments for all racers. Race-day registration is $30.

When: 7 a.m. Thursday

Where: Mount Trashmore Park

Virginia Beach Christmas Market: More than 250 artisans, crafters and designers are looking to make holiday shopping a little easier. Pottery, jewelry, stained glass, fine arts, toys, photos, Christmas collectibles and more will be for sale. Admission is $7 for ages 13 and up and $2 for children ages 6 to 12. Admission is good for all three days. Attendees can get 50 cents off admission if they bring a can of food for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

Santa’s Seaside Village: Experience the holiday season on the beach, beginning this weekend and running until Dec. 27. Taste a variety of snacks, from pretzels to popcorn to cookies, in Santa’s Sweet Shoppe. Listen to carolers and storytellers and see the holiday lights along the beach. There will also be animated displays, arts and crafts demonstrations, merchandise booths and carnival rides. Tickets are $4 per person or $10 for a family four-pack. A combination package, which includes admission to the seaside village and the Holiday Lights on the Boardwalk, is $20.

When: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, until Dec. 27

Where: Atlantic Avenue and 30th Street

“Elf” on the Big Screen: Get in the holiday spirit by tuning into this family-friendly movie on the largest screen in Virginia. Tickets are $5 for all ages.

When: 5 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. Saturday

Where: The 3D Theater at the Virginia Aquarium
