College Catch-Up: Following Beach athletes at the next level

Women’s Volleyball

Margaret Latchford (Princess Anne), Liberty University: The freshman libero has had a standout season for the Lady Flames. Latchford leads the team in digs (441) and is second in assists (45) and service aces (14).

Cheyanne James (Kellam), Radford University: The senior outside hitter is the team’s fifth-leading attacker, posting 104 kills in 22 matches. James also has 88 digs and 34 blocks.

Kirstin Sessoms (Bayside), Virginia Wesleyan College: In her second year as the starting setter, the senior has racked up a team-leading 647 assists in 35 matches. Sessoms is also third on the team with 280 digs and second with 41 service aces.

Field Hockey

Jennifer Burris (Kempsville), Longwood University: The senior starting forward leads the team in scoring for the second consecutive year with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists.

Women’s Soccer

Meghan Magee (Bayside), Longwood University: In her third year as a starting defender, the senior captain has helped anchor a defense that has allowed only 1.21 goals per game.
