Local autism organizations are teaming up to host the seventh annual Tidewater Autism Summit on Saturday at the Oceanfront. Co-sponsors include the Tidewater Virginia Chapter of the Autism Society, the Virginia Autism Project, Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater and Autism Speaks.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine at the Festival Center at 708 Atlantic Ave.
Other resources providers at the summit will include service dogs, Family Preservation Services, ImagiFriends, SensoryAbled Kids and Coastal Behavior Consulting. They’ll answer questions and show parents what services they can offer to children.
The event will also provide families affected by autism the chance to network and learn about different care choices. Attendees will also be able to voice concerns on issues affecting the autism community, such as healthcare coverage.
The event is free and will feature door prizes and raffles. Children can also visit a “de-stress area,” which will feature a petting zoo and a bounce house.
