Monster Madness: Parents and children are invited to come to the Virginia Aquarium dressed in their Halloween costumes. The evening features nature-themed crafts, games and the chance to check out some of the aquarium’s “creepy creatures.” It costs $7 for members and $10 for non-members.
When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday

Halloween Town & Treat: The Circus-themed event features trick-or-treating, an arts and crafts festival, circus shows, carnival games, a petting farm and a dunk tank. The event is free.
When: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

Zombie Prom: Targeting those who are too old to trick-or-treat and too young for adult parties, the event includes music by DJ Dead Donney, a costume contest, a prom king and queen contest and zombie dance lessons. Tickets cost $25 and include access to the prom and the three haunted attractions — Field of Screams, Haunted Hayride and Village of the Dead.

House of Blues & Brews: The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual outdoor festival includes unlimited food tastings, admission to the fall galleries, a silent auction of Boardwalk art and live music from local artists and bands. General admission is $30. A VIP ticket, which includes access to a tent featuring Atlantic Shores food and three drink passes, is $60. Proceeds go to MOCA’s educational programs and exhibitions.
