Three Oceanfront streets are either partly closed this week or have the potential to close at any time, due to utility work.
The three projects — on Cypress and Pacific avenues and Cavalier Drive — range in scale from mammoth to minor.
The Cypress Avenue project, in which crews will install a gravity sewer main at the 18th Street intersection, began today and is scheduled for completion Friday.
Also, work installing cable lines along Pacific Avenue began Oct. 1 and should continue through April 30. That project is in its second phase and should cause only “very minor” and few traffic disruptions, according to an update from City Manager Jim Spore to council members. The first phase was completed last spring.
Spore gave no timetable in his update for the work along Cavalier Drive, which began today and completely shut down all lanes from Atlantic Avenue to Holly Road.
No neighborhood parking or through traffic, except for construction vehicles, will be allowed in those areas as crews install roadway utilities ahead of the Cavalier Hotel’s restoration.
Spore said in his update that advanced warning signs will be posted as needed for drivers’ safety.
