Special education fair to showcase resources, services

A community resource fair is coming up to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The event is Nov. 2 and is being hosted by the Office of Programs for Exceptional Children and the Virginia Beach Special Education Advisory Committee. Some of the groups scheduled to attend include the Autism Society of Tidewater, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, Project Lifesaver and the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Program.

The goal of the event is to provide children and adults with intellectual disabilities as well as their parents or caretakers with information about services and resources, including support groups, recreational programs, transition services and housing. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions and help people sign up for services.

The event will go from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Landstown High School.
