stockdesignA new machining company will be expanding its operations in Virginia Beach after landing two big contracts.

Stock Design and Machine Inc. has some of the industry’s fastest and most accurate computer numerical control tools in a temperature-controlled manufacturing space, the city said in a release.

The company serves a range of industries, including aerospace, gas and oil, and military special operations forces. It is purchasing new machinery and tools for its 2500 Squadron Court location to meet demand from two new contracts. One is with General Plasma, a company that makes plasma coating lines for automobile plants around the world; the other is with NCC Automation Systems, which builds conveyor systems for companies like Amazon Fulfillment Centers, according to the city.

Former Navy SEAL and mechanical engineer Robert J. Stock started Stock Design and Machine in 2015, the city said. It is a certified ServicevDisabled Veteran-Owned Small Business.

The Virginia Beach Development Authority awarded Stock Design and Machine a $20,000 grant based on the company’s capital investment of $995,000, as part of a program that helps businesses that meet the requirements to locate in potential accident zones around Oceana Naval Air Station.
