Southside Scene: Oct. 22-25

Every Thursday, Southside Daily will help get your weekend started with the Southside Scene, a selection of events in Virginia Beach. Want to tell us and others about another happening? Submit your festival, concert or other event to our calendar for free.

FilFest: Filipino-American culture, food and entertainment will be on display. Special guests will also be in attendance, including comedian Rex Navarrete, singer/actress Stephanie Reese, singer/songwriter/actor Martin Nievera and retired NBA player Raymond Townsend.

When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday

Where: Town Center

Haunted Lynnhaven: Journey Unto Death and Beyond: Visitors get to “follow” Francis Thelaball, the builder of the house, through a mysterious night of his from back in the 1700s. Tours run every half hour beginning at 7 p.m. The event is for those 14 and older, although those between the ages of 10 and 13 can attend with a parent or guardian.

When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday

Where: Historic Lynnhaven House, 4405 Wishart Rd.

4th Annual Gordon Biersch Arts & Drafts Craft Beer Event: Attendees can sample a variety of craft beers, listen to live music and see local art displays. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate.

When: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday

Where: Outdoor Performance Plaza at the Sandler Center

Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 5K Run & Walk for the Animals: Events include a 5K run (dogs, strollers and walkers welcome), a 1-mile “Pack Walk” and activities for children and pets in the park.

When: 10 a.m. Sunday

Where: 31st Street Park, Oceanfront
