Youth wrestling, senior softball fill a weekend of Beach sporting events

Running for a Cause

The Susan G. Komen Tidewater Race for the Cure activities start at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Oceanfront’s Neptune Park. A competitive timed race begins at 7:30 a.m. The Survivor Parade starts at 7:45 a.m., followed by a recreational race at 8:30 a.m.

Holiday Soccer

The Virginia Beach Columbus Day Soccer Tournament kicks off on Saturday.

Boys and girls boys from the age of 9 to 19 make up 325 teams from five states — Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Delaware.

Matches will be played at four locations: Hampton Roads Soccer Complex (Virginia Beach), Princess Anne Athletic Complex (Virginia Beach), Red Wing Park (Virginia Beach) and Lake Taylor High School (Norfolk).

Senior Softball

The 2015 International Senior Softball Association Winter National Championships began Friday morning at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex. Games will be played at several other venues throughout the region as well.

In its eighth year, this fall’s ISSA Winter National features 58 teams in age groups reaching as old as 75 and up. Virginia Beach has two teams participating under the Ancient Mariners name.

Preseason Wrestling Tournament

The fifth annual Interstate 64 Final Four Fall Wrestling Classic is Saturday and Sunday at the Virginia Beach Field House, 2020 Landstown Centre Way.

The tournament features youth competition from the kindergarten to high school level.

Last year, 400 wrestlers from 12 states competed for the Tidewater Cup.
