This Saturday, at three local Virginia Beach hospitals, people can drive through and get their flu shots for free.
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (1060 First Colonial Rd.), Sentara Independence (800 Independence Blvd.) and Sentara Princess Anne Hospital (1975 Glenn Mitchell Dr.) are offering the service from 8 a.m. to noon, or until supplies last, according to Sentara spokesman Dale Gauding.
“We have 2,000 doses spread across all our locations,” Gauding said.
The flu season runs from October to May, although it reaches its peak from December to February, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Gauding called the drive-through event an “early-bird” campaign and hoped many will take advantage of the opportunity. People 18 and older are eligible for the shots, and no insurance is necessary.
