William Leroy Yost, 91, born Dec. 1, 1928, in Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. Yost Sr. and Sarah M. Yost; sister, Virginia J. Holkamp; brothers, Harry L. Yost Jr., John A. Yost and Mahlon W. Yost; wife of 53 years, Dorothy J. Yost; and granddaughter, Sarah M. Buchtel.

He is survived by his three children, Jeanne K. Buchtel, and her husband, Bryan M. Buchtel, Carol Y. Bryan, and her husband, Allan A. Bryan, and James W. Yost, and his wife, Kelly A. Yost; grandchildren, Jennifer B. Reynolds, and her husband, James M. Reynolds, Tyler W. Yost and Christopher A. Bryan; and great-grandchildren, Jessica R. Sipe, James W. Sipe and Haley A. Ross.

He served in three wars in the U.S. Navy for 24 years and worked at the Headquarters of the NATO Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic (SACLANT), Norfolk, and transferred to the Staff of Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR), Norfolk, VA. His rate was YNCS.

Private services will be performed in Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach.
