Steven Earl Beecham, 55, never let a bump in the road keep him from pushing forward

Steven Earl Beecham, 55, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020.

Steven was born May 8, 1964, in Norfolk to Jerry Alan and Peggy Elizabeth Beecham.

He is survived by his father, Jerry, and stepmother, Jackie Beecham, of Virginia Beach; mother, Peggy Beecham of Chesapeake; children, Nickole Culver of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Stevie Beecham of Virginia Beach, Dalton Beecham of Chesapeake and Brooke Beecham of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Taylor, Michael and Daniel Culver of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; brother, Preston Beecham, and his wife, Lorraine Beecham, of Chesapeake; mother of his children, Chrystal Beecham Scott of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; and many more loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Myrtle, and grandfather, William Earl Brenton; and grandmother, Inez Beecham, and grandfather, Swanson Beecham.

Steven worked as a painter for many years. He also worked at many places, doing what he loved, including shipyards, residential and commercial.

Steven was a devoted father, grandfather, son and brother. He was a firm believer in walking through life with Jesus Christ beside him every step of the way, and he always saw the good in people. He never judged people by their life choices, their scars or their beliefs. He believed to always help the ones in need. He never let a bump in the road keep him from pushing forward. He loved his children with all of his heart. He loved to fish, ride dirt bikes, go to the beach and play guitar.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 20, at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church.
