Daniela ‘Diane’ Cappiello Gibbs, 82, took great pride in assisting others

Daniela “Diane” Cappiello Gibbs, 82, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, in Virginia Beach.

Affectionately known as Diane, she was born in Lumberport, West Virginia, to the late John and Rose Cappiello. She was an avid reader, quilter, crossword enthusiast and prided herself on helping others and having a home full of people. Diane was an employee of Sentara Health Systems in the accounts payable department, where would retire after many years of service.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas M. Gibbs (Cheryl); grandchildren, Kassy D. Gibbs, Erica N.Sartin and Ashley M. Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Sabrina D. Bailey, Tyler B. Wolford, Zane T. Sartin and Lily M. Sartin; sister, Rosalie Keener; brothers, John Cappiello (Denise) and Tommy Cappiello (Dianna); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Gibbs; son, Brian C. Gibbs; mother, Rose Cappiello; father, John Cappiello Sr.; sisters, Kathryn Rose Cappiello, Josephine Cappiello, Alveda Cappiello, Helen Mae Davis and Mary Julia Cutrell; brothers, Bennie Cappiello, Jerry Cappiello and James Harold Cappiello; brother-in-law, Bob Keener; as well as many other dearly departed loved ones.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 2, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
