Shirley Lee Miller, 90, talented seamstress who donated her creations to CHKD

Shirley Lee Miller, 90, of Virginia Beach, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020.

Born in Norfolk, Shirley was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where she also served as deacon and elder. She was also president and lifetime member of Women of the Church, Circle chairman and a Sunday school teacher. She loved gardening, yard work, dancing, music and the Lord. She also sewed for CHKD and made sundresses for Church World Service.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James R. “Jimmy” Miller; parents, George S. Shuster and Lettie L. McClannan; two sisters, Alice Horne and Barbara Edwards; and son-in-law, Bland Creekmore.

Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Linda Myers (Mike) and Janet Creekmore; three grandchildren, Heather Lockhart (Richard), Alicia Newman (Kris) and Austin Litchfield (Heather); and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alivia, Emily, Sarah, Alana and Haven.

The family would like to extend at special thank you to the staff at Beth Sholom for excellent care of Shirley.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, at Lafayette Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 1821 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23509.
