Norma Mae Sanderlin, 87, enjoyed her career as a seamstress

Norma Mae Sanderlin, 87, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at her home.

Norma was born July 4, 1932, to the late John and Lillian Sheets in Norfolk. She was a seamstress by trade and created beautiful adornments such as slipcovers, draperies and pillows for people’s homes. Norma loved bowling, dancing, bingo, playing cards, painting and going to auctions with Bobby and Cathy.

Norma will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sanderlin; and son, David Sanderlin.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Sanderlin Jr. (Cathy) and William Sanderlin; brother, Thomas Sheets; five brothers, Kenneth Sheets, Robert Sheets, Phillip Sheets, Jimmy Sheets and Tommy Sheets; two sisters, Alease Williams and Evelyn Sheets; four grandchildren: Robert Sanderlin III, William Sanderlin, Jonathan Sanderlin and Ashley Nicole Sands; and eight great-grandchildren, Barrett Sanderlin, Robert Sanderlin IV, Rudy Sanderlin, Lucy Sanderlin, Olivia Sanderlin, Noah Sanderlin, Savannah Sands and Issabella Sands.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 7, with a memorial service following at 11 a.m., at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations.
