Ramona Jane “Mona” Fox, 68, began her journey through life Sunday, Oct. 28 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, and peacefully transitioned from this earthly life Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at home in Virginia Beach. She was born in Lansing, Michigan, to the parentage of the late Robert Stevens and Blanche (Johns) Stevens.
Ramona, affectionately called “Mona” by her family and friends, grew up in Lansing, Michigan. She attended DeWitt High School in DeWitt, Michigan. After high school, she began work in the food industry business until becoming medically disabled in 1983.
Ramona was baptized at St. Mary’s Church in Williamston, Michigan, Nov. 18, 1951, according to the rules of the Roman Catholic Church. In life, she accepted God and remained faithful to God, knowing that she will one day be resurrected to everlasting life and her soul reunited with her loving son.
Ramona was married to Gregory J. Fox in Lansing, Michigan, and moved to Virginia Beach after her divorce. Ramona enjoyed reading, fishing, bingo, internet gaming and collecting camel ornaments and figurines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Blanche Stevens; son, Damien J. Fox Sr.; and sister, Sharon Stevens.
Ramona leaves, not to mourn, but to cherish, memories that shall forever remain in the hearts of her loving daughter, Lisa (Lee) Mireles of Michigan; grandchildren, Samantha, Monica, L.J. Mireles of Michigan and Damien Fox Jr. of Maryland; four great-grandsons, Joseph and Carter Merrill and Dustin and Payton Miller of Michigan; sister, Cathy (Pat) Botke; and brothers, Frank (Paula) and Bob (Terri) Stevens of Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, at Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. A cemetery committal service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. The family will be greeting relatives and friends at 12:30 p.m. at Golden Corral, 400 S. Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach.
