Norman Dale “Norm” Huff, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019, in Virginia Beach surrounded by his family. Norm was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Champion, Ohio, to Lester and Cora Huff.

He was a graduate of Champion High School, where he played basketball all four years as a star forward leading the team to two consecutive County Championships.

He was an athlete and lifelong sports fan, devoted to his beloved Duke Blue Devils. He’s responsible for the coaching and mentoring of generations of basketball players, always reminding his guys to “shoot the ball!” A buck sergeant serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was a veteran of the Korean War. Norm was an avid reader, a lover of flea markets and good bargains and any sport that involved a ball. He was a believer in daily ice cream and that the best food came from hot dog shops.

Norm was a humble man of faith and lived his life as a witness and testament to his belief in Jesus Christ. He loved hearing his family laugh.

Left to cherish his memory are Shirley McDonald, Tami and John Rolfe, Jodi Huff and Kindra and Adam Greene; grandchildren, Brad and Brooke Rolfe and Chad and Ashley Huff; sister, Dolores Warman of Courtland, Ohio; and extensive family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norm’s honor to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

Share online condolences with the family at Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory.
