Kenneth Ray Ingram Jr., 57, of Virginia Beach, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019.
Ray was born Nov. 17, 1962, in Portsmouth to Kenneth Ray and Beverly Ingram Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly Ingram Hutcheson, and stepfather, Joe Hutcheson; wife, Laura; children, Kenny, Lindsay and Matthew; siblings, Tom Barker, Sally Ingram McDaniel and Melissa Ingram Fitcher; six nieces and nephews, Adam, Nathan, Wesley, Natalie, J.J. and Karly. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Ray Ingram Sr.
Ray owned and operated The Head Shop beginning in February 2001. He was a master machinist and engine builder for over 40 years.
He will always be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, friend and a man of great faith.
He loved nature, and in his free time, he enjoyed spending time at his property in Boydton and biking at False Cape State Park with his wife, Laura. Ray enjoyed boating, fishing, mudbogging and spending time with family and friends around a nice fire. He was also a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan.
Ray loved nicknames. If he cared for you, you had at least one.
He always had a kind word, humor and wisdom to share. He would give you his undivided attention regardless of what was going on around him.
He believed in helping others without recognition; he considered it tithing. He loved deeply and was a beautiful soul.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Almeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ray’s memory to tmcfunding.com. The funds raised will be divided equally between the Friends of False Cape State Park and The Nature Conservancy.
