Harold Dean ‘Bozie’ Flora Sr., 81, deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church

Harold Dean “Bozie” Flora Sr., 81, left Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Mary. Bozie was not sad to leave this earth because he knew he was going to be with the Lord and reunited with his loving wife, his parents and other family members he had missed for so long.

Bozie retired after 30 years working at the Ford Plant and served in the U.S. Navy. He also enjoyed being a DX driver for some of the local dealerships. After retiring, he and his loving wife took off to explore the United States in their motorhome. They loved going to Florida where they would work at the campground and spend time meeting new people who become lifelong friends. Bozie was a former member and deacon at Great Neck Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. At the time of his passing, he was a member and deacon of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach.

Bozie was a family man and always looked forward to the weekends so he could spend time with his family and friends. He loved the days when he was either at his in-laws spending time on the beach or at his parent’s farm spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Romey and Indie Flora; three brothers, Tommy, Flora (Polly), Cecil Flora Sr. and Willie Flora (Mabel).

He leaves to cherish his memories with two sons, Harold Dean Flora Jr. of Knotts Island, North Carolina, and Randy Wayne Flora (Bonnie) of Virginia Beach; one sister-in-law, Linda VanEiken (Jerry) of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law, Thomas Grafton of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Heather Flora Brawley (Michael), Hunter Flora, Jasmine Gann, Justin Gann (Tessa) and Kelsey Flora; four great-grandchildren, Easton Brawley, Hadley Brawley, Whyatt Gann and Jenna Gann. Bozie also leaves Bart Flora (Janice), Debbie McCrickard (Randy) and several other special family members and friends.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. with reception in the church social hall. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church.
