Thomas William Pretty, 60, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, at his home following a series of health issues.
Thomas Pretty was born Dec. 15, 1958, in Texas to Douglas and June Pretty. The son of a career Navy father, Thomas attended schools in England, the United States and graduated from high school in Spain. He completed a degree from Johnson and Wales in Culinary Arts and worked at a variety of establishments for several years.
Thomas married Lois Koerwer on July 20, 2002, in Cary. He eventually made his career as a landscaper for the City of Virginia Beach and maintained schools and parks throughout the community for more than 20 years. A dog lover throughout his life, Thomas owned many Pekingese and Boxers, including his current fur friend, Romeo “Romi”. Thomas’ life had many ups and downs, much like the roller coasters that he loved to ride.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Douglas, and is survived by his mother, June, of Kettering, England; and his wife, Lois. He is remembered and cared for by his auntie, Amy Woodlee and family of the United States; Uncle Roy Spreckley and family of Melton Mowbray, England; as well as many other aunties, uncles and cousins in England.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, at the Beach Fellowship, 1817 General Booth Blvd., Virginia Beach. Pastor Jonnathan Thoroughgood of Greater Faith Deliverance Ministries will be officiating, with assistance from Pastor David Rundle of the Beach Fellowship and Minister Ron Tolbert of Greater Faith.
