Otelia P. Palmos, 84, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, in the Philippines following an illness. Otelia was a longtime resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. She was born Dec. 13, 1934, to the late Maria P. Parcon and Victorino C. Pacificador in Iloilo, Philippines.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Manuel F. Palmos, who died on May 21, 1998.
She is survived by her two daughters, Maria Jesusa Battles, and children, Nicholas, Anastasia, Steven and Andrew; and Emelda Palmos Sykes, and her husband, Peter Sykes, and their children, Alina, Colin, and Patrick Sykes.
Otelia took great pride in being a Navy wife and mother. She worked for many years as an insurance agent. Otelia’s faith in the Lord was very strong. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius X and St. Gregory the Great.
Funeral services were held in the Philippines. A local memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial and reception will follow at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
