Robert “Bob” Arcido, 73, Virginia Beach, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. Born in Baguio City, Philippines, he was the son of the late Oscar Arcido and Fermina Arcido.
He was the beloved husband of Ermelinda “Linda” Arcido for 49 years and 9 months; and loving father of Ruby Lynn Arcido, Rose Joy Arcido, Jason Arcido, and daughter-in-law, Stephenie. He is also the proud and loving grandfather of Julianna Delaune, Cameron Delaune, Isaac Arcido, and Edison Arcido. He is brother to Alice Bangon (preceded in death), Frank Arcido (preceded in death), Catherine Arcido and Francis Russell. Also left to cherish his memory are his loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and a host of longtime friends from all over the world.
Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam War who proudly served 24 years in the U.S. Navy. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked as a civil servant for 20 years. He was an active member of the Baguio Fil-Am Association of Tidewater and member of the Holy Spirit Church. He was a loving dog-walker to his dog-grandchildren, Mitzi and Bear; superb car mechanic; avid gardener; enthusiastic golfer; master chef; and world traveler.
Bob enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He was not a man of many words, but he made things happen. We all listened to his great advice and laughed at his silly humor; otherwise, we would just hear a “Hmm.” Bob treated everyone with respect and kindness. His heart and house was always open to all. Bob’s love touched the hearts of many; he will be missed.
