Dr. Josefino S. Santos, 78, of Virginia Beach, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019. He was the son of Jose R. Santos and Dominga Santos of Marikina, Philippines.
Josefino is survived by his wife of 48 years, Erlinda G. Santos; daughter, Jemmalyn Santos-Kretten; sons, Jonathan Santos, Jameson Santos and J.C. Santos; son-in-law, Nicholas Kretten; granddaughter, Amina Santos-Kretten; and grandsons, Jonas Santos and Lukas Santos-Kretten.
Josefino graduated from Far Eastern University and became a doctor of internal medicine before achieving his goal to move to the United States. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of his by opening a private practice, which he ran for 27 years. He also worked at the neighboring Chesapeake Regional Hospital as well as the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Hampton.
Josefino enjoyed singing, dancing and playing tennis. He was an active member of the Philippine Medical Association of Virginia. He enjoyed singing with friends and family and was also a member of the Senior Choir and Filipino Ministry Choir at St. Gregory the Great Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A Mass of resurrection will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, at St. Gregory the Great. A committal service will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. A reception will follow at St. Gregory the Great Church.
