Earnest Christopher Smith, 67, affectionately known to family and friends as “Butch,” was born March 21, 1952, to the late Margaret McCoy Smith in Brooklyn, New York. He peacefully transitioned to our Father’s heavenly home Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, Virginia Beach.
Butch was an avid football fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching westerns, and burned out the T.V. watching King Kong. He was medically retired from Venture Supply, Norfolk.
Butch was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret McCoy Smith; and sister, Lorraine Gorum.
Left to cherish his fond memories are his sister, Harriett McCoy; aunt, Delores Ash (William); special cousin, Mellick Holley; special niece, Connie Williams; and a host other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves a companion of over 37 years, Mary E. Jordan, and his extended family, the Jordan and Turner families.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 26, at
Beach Funeral & Cremation Services, 4456 Bonney Road,
Virginia Beach. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 6421 Providence Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow services at 3 p.m. in Roosevelt Memorial Park, 1101 Campostella Road, Chesapeake.
