Kevin W. Kemplin, 55, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Virginia Beach surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born Oct. 25, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mary and Caleb Haines.

He was a graduate of Wilson Technical Community College with an Associate Degree in Sign Language Interpreting.

Kevin had two sons, Grant and Austin Kemplin, and worked for many years as an electrician. He was very involved in the children’s ministry at The Temple Of Pentecost; he was a Sunday school teacher, bible quizzing coach, involved with drama ministry and made a large impact on many children’s lives throughout the years. He was also a sign language interpreter and cared for his brother in law for the last few years of his life. He enjoyed playing basketball and was a published poet to go along with his many talents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Mary Haines; and brother, Charles Paul.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Grant and Austin; grandchildren, Saylor, Brantley and Bailey; siblings, Elle Koch-McVay, Trudy Collins, John Kemplin, Kay Parke and Vicky Thomas; and a host of relatives and loving friends.

A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 22, at Bible World, 600 Happy Acres Road, Chesapeake.
