Lt. Col. Larry Arthur Cowart, 72, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019, in Virginia Beach. Larry was born in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Roy and Opal Cowart.
He is survived by his wife, Kinuko Tabata Cowart of Virginia Beach; daughter, Nancy Keyomi Jones, and her husband, David, of Wexford, Pennsylvania; grandson, Nicholas Jones of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and siblings, Ronnie, Jerry, Gary Cowart and Debbie Queen, all of South Carolina.
Larry retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 30 years of dedicated service. He served in the Vietnam War and various other wars during his 30 years of service. He later converted over to the civil service as an aeronautical engineer and served an additional 10 years, eventually retiring in 2006.
Larry and Kinuko were married Jan. 6, 1970, and they were married for 50 glorious years together. When Larry wasn’t working or spending time with his family, you would catch him mowing his grass, joking around with his neighbors and tinkering around inside the house. He will be greatly missed by all.
