Wayne “Bonnie” Young, 63, went on to glory Wednesday, April 24, 2019. She was the youngest daughter of Wilbert and Mary Spruill of Norfolk.

As a military wife, Wayne settled in Oak Harbor, Washington, where she served as a licensed practical nurse at Naval Hospital Whidbey Island. She was recognized as Civilian of the Year and supported her community as a Girl Scout leader, Federally Employed Women member and faithful diabetic support group facilitator. Some may remember her as a grief counselor with the NASWI Mother-Infant Unit support group.

Wayne was a fun-loving, lighthearted, kind and devoted wife to retired U.S. Marine Corps 1st Sgt. Westley Young Sr.

She is survived by her three children, Westley Jr., Wynndee and Wryan; grandchild, Samra; two sisters, Constance, and her husband, Chester, and Fabra, and her husband, Dwight; three brothers, Pete, and his wife, Marilyn, Keith, and his wife, Diane, and Eddie, and his wife, Annette. Her love overflowed to a host of other family members and friends. Wayne loved her family very much and reminds us to “Be Still and Know God.” Psalm 46:10.

A special thank you to the staffs at DaVita Kidney Center and Providence Medical Center for supporting and caring for Wayne.

A celebration in her honor will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 11, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at gofundme.com.
