Our beloved Dante Bumanglag Calixto, 76, of Virginia Beach, passed away and joined our Creator Thursday, April 18, 2019.

He was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Ilagan Isabela, Philippines, to Bernardino Calixto and Gregoria Calixto (née Bumanglag). He was surrounded by immediate family during his last days.

Dante was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Romeo Calixto and Samuel Calixto.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fely Calixto; son, Dante Calixto Jr., daughters, Jennifer King, Annabelle Calixto-Johnson and Joy Gluck; grandkids, Rhazlynn Calixto, Marisa Reynoso, Tristan Calixto, Jaselyne Calixto, Kaleb Gluck, Isabella Gluck, Aiden King and Jacob Gluck; sisters, Emma Gallardo and Alicia Ramil; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was a proud retired veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1968 to 1989, and a civil service retiree. He served on the USS Jouett during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching basketball and wrestling, working on cars and gardening. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his humor and for being a wonderful and selfless provider for his family.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home chapel at 6 p.m.
