Vaughna M. Ochs, 90, ‘generous nurturer who many came to know as mom’

Vaughna M. Ochs, 90, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully Friday, April 12, 2019, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glena and Oscar Forren; husband, William Ochs; daughter, Karen Boston; granddaughter, Charmaine Ochs; sister, Ruth Wickline; and brother, Junior Forren.

She is survived by her children, John Ochs, Bobbi Graff (Bob), Sandra Bennett and Jeannie Burns (Dan); grandchildren, Shea Zischke (Dawn), Rian Zischke and Chrystal Ochs (Chris); five great-grandchildren, Ethan Zischke, Payton Zischke, Collin Ochs, Alexis Ochs and Brooke Brown; three sisters, Shirley Schlosser, Dreama Miner and Helen (Greg) Reineke; along with many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Vaughna attended nursing school at William & Mary, where she met her late husband, William. She then began a family and enjoyed a career in the banking industry, eventually retiring. She enjoyed spending her time with loved ones, gardening, baking and life in general. She loved her family, she loved watching her great-grandchildren play, sing, dance and took every opportunity she had to be with them. She was a generous, kind soul who many came to know as “mom.” She will hold a place in everyone’s heart who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 18, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, 1457 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach. A small reception follow services at the funeral home.
