James Joseph Custer, 81, equestrian who owned The Meadows Horse Farm in Pungo

James Joseph Custer, 81, of Virginia Beach, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Born in New Jersey, he was the son of the late George H. Custer Jr. and Mary Margaret Feehan Custer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a retired owner and operator of 13 McDonald’s restaurants for over 40 years. Mr. Custer was an avid equestrian and horse jumper and enjoyed fox hunting. He owned The Meadows Horse Farm in Pungo and was a lifelong Methodist.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane Irene Custer; two sons, Glenn and Michael Custer; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 18, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
