Beltha Birks, 95, known for his ability to fix just about anything

Beltha Birks, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019. He was born July 11, 1923, to the late Louis and Johnny Birks in Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Zenobia Birks.

Buddy accepted Christ April 12, 1998, along with his wife, Zenobia. He worked in the factory industry until he retired and moved to Austin, Texas, in 1986. You could find him humming and fixing just about anything. He was a jack of all trades and master of most with just a third-grade education.

He is survived by his granddaughters, DeAnna Bowens (Wylie) and Angelique Banks of Virginia Beach and Dana Craft (Edmond) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandsons, Leonard Banks III (Rachel) and Garland Banks of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law, Vernestine Banks of Chicago, Illinois, and Sandra Northern, Virginia Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. An additional visitation will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, at King-Tears Mortuary, 1300 E. 12th St., Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 11, at Evergreen Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
