William C. Confer Sr.

William C. Confer Sr., 93, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at home. He was born in Illinois to the late Charles E. Confer and Ruby O. Pace. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy. He fought in the European, Pacific and Asian theatres during World War II.

Mr. Confer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara B. Confer; and daughter Rebecca A. Confer.

Survivors include daughters, Susan C. Hangarter (Ted), Kathryn C. McKelvey (Mark) and Elizabeth C. Dunbar; son, William C. Confer Jr. (Cindy); seven grandchildren, Jack Hangarter (Elisa), Kathryn Newton (Pat), Lauren Williams (Adam), Cara Hart (Nate), William Confer III (Tiffany), Benjamin Dunbar and Connor Dunbar; and seven great-grandchildren, Dolores Newton, Jacob and Juliet Williams, Arissa Russo, Cami Trainor and Aiden and William Confer IV.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, March 29, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the social hall. Burial will follow the reception in the Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Building Fund, 712 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
