Hallie Elizabeth Peters Moore, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 14, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dwight M. Moore; daughter, Elizabeth Moore Osgrove; and five brothers.
She is survived by two brothers, George Peters of Augusta, Georgia, and John Peters, of Macon, Mississippi; niece, Cheryl Peters Deans (Jerry); and nephew, Mark Peters of Florida. There are many other nieces and nephews who she truly loved.
Hallie was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Macon, Mississippi. She studied at Noxubee County Agricultural High School and East Mississippi Junior College. She retired from government service at Naval Air Station Oceana as secretary to the captain. She was a resident of Virginia Beach since 1942 and moved to assisted living in Jacksonville, Florida, last May to be closer to family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, where she enjoyed being a choir member.
Hallie enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Also loved gardening and yard work. She took pride in having the prettiest yard in the neighborhood.
Interment will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 23, at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. A celebration of her life will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 300 36th St., Virginia Beach. Light refreshments will be provided by Tender Loving Care Group at First Presbyterian after the service.
Many thanks to Community Hospice of Jacksonville, the staff at Benton House Oakleaf, and most of all, to Michelle McCoy of Virginia Beach who arranged around-the-clock care and made sure she was loved until she moved to Florida.
