Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Roy E. Leadbeater, 81, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019.
Born in New York, he was the son of the late Reginald and Edna Leadbeater. He retired from the U.S Navy after 20 years of service and Honeywell-Wang after 20 years of service. He was a member of the New Creation Community, Knights of Columbus Council No. 10804 and cofounder of Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife, Willodean Glass Leadbeater; and sister, Joan Barker.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 20 years, Cheryl Leadbeater; daughters, Bevery Milligan-Hamel (Mike), Ann Leadbeater-Hall (Shawn) and Deanna Hornback (Chris); sons, Darrell Doster (Cindy) and Ronald Lang; grandchildren, Justin Milligan (Brooke), Melissa Wilbur (Joseph), Ryan Doster, Corene Golden (Kody), Ravyn, Pheonix, and Aiden Lang and Renee Hornback; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Lily, Hannah, Mariah, along with three more due in 2019; great-great-granddaughter, Rosaleigh Willow Doster; a former exchange student who Roy and Cheryl viewed as a daughter, Grace (Heejung) Kim; and fur-babies, Faith, Hope, Buster, Willow, Gordon and Daisy.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at Church of the Holy Family. Interment will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
