Dolores Marie Schiavo, 86, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, was called home to our Lord Saturday, Dec. 18, 2018. She was born in Stamford, Connecticut, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Tamburri, of blessed memory.
Dolores was married to James Michael Schiavo, of blessed memory, her beloved husband of 60 years, during which she shared his life as an Army wife for 23 years traveling to many places and meeting many people. Upon his retirement from the Army, they settled in Richmond, where they lived for the next 24 years.
In 1995, they moved to Virginia Beach to be near family. Dolores enjoyed the craft of card-making, watching and feeding the birds and spending time with her family and friends. She served as a greeter for services at Church of the Holy Family, where her warm and inviting personality and love of people served her church well.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Don Keeling; grandson, Matthew Mervis; daughter, Lynne Riley, and her partner, Larry Larrance; granddaughters, Roxanne and Rachel Riley, all of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister, Jo-Ann Tamburri of Norfolk and formerly of Stamford, Connecticut; nephew, Nicholas DeAngelis; and nieces, Carol Gill, Jamie Pinto and Ruth Ridgeway.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at Church of the Holy Family, Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Burial will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery, Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, where Dolores will be laid to rest in peace beside her devoted husband Jim.
