Donna Jean Burns, 44, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018. Donna was born June 26, 1974, in New London, Connecticut, to Nolan Scott and Sue Ann Nassr.
Donna was known as a “master organizer” and “the world’s most lethal monopoly player.” After growing up in New London, she moved to Virginia Beach at the end of her junior year. This is where she would meet the love of her life and future husband, Damond Burns.
Donna loved being a wife, mother and grandmother “Mimi.” She was an active member in her community, whether it was being a troop leader for the girl scouts, fundraising for the Virginia Beach Flames, Salem Middle, Salem High school, Landstown High School and ODC. Donna was also an honorary member of Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Destiny Shyann Burns (May 8, 2013).
Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 24 years, Damond Burns Sr.; son, Damond Burns Jr. and Jah-Niriah; grandchild, Jhordyn Shyann Burns; parents, Nolan Scott and Sue Ann Nassr and Thomas and Sharon Burns; brother, Steven Scott; and many more amazing friends.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
