Joseph Robert ‘Joe’ Dixey, 96, Air Force veteran who served during World War II and Korean and Vietnam wars

It is with sadness that his wife and extended family announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Robert ‘Joe’ Dixey, 96, on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.

He was born March 28, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan and Mary Dixey; sister, Deed McGoldrick; and first wife, Jane Dixey.

He is survived by his children, Robert Dixey, Kenneth Dixey, Sharon Hendrixson and Patricia Easeman; brothers, Bob Dixey, and Father Edward Dixey, and his wife of five years, Helen P. Dixey; and the McIntosh family. Joe is a retired colonel U.S. Air Force pilot and many-times-over decorated veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War and Strategic Command.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community. Burial will follow with military honors in July 2019 in Arlington National Cemetery.
