Katherine ‘Kitty’ Pettus Anderson, 88, known for her vibrant sense of humor

Katherine “Kitty” Pettus Anderson, 88, of Virginia Beach, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018.

Kitty graduated from Woodward Wilson High School and attended James Madison University. She was a lifelong Christian, an avid reader and lover of music, flowers, butterflies, as well as her beloved pets, Bubbles and Teddy. Most importantly, she was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and just seeing her grandchildren always made her eyes sparkle. She had a great sense of humor that brightened up a room, and people who knew her loved her for her humor, and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bacon Page and Delia Leigh Pettus; husband, Raymond Magnus Anderson Jr.; and sons, Raymond Magnus Anderson lll and John Page Anderson.

She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Anderson Baugher (Steven), Helen Anderson Gregory (Landon), Mary Anderson Hudgins (Mark) and Ruth Leigh Anderson; and grandchildren, Erin and Taylor Gregory and Christopher and Zachary Hudgins.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Virginia Literacy Foundation.
