Sherry Glen Houser, 68, went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, 2018. Sherry was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Norfolk. She was the daughter of John Wesley Freeman Jr. and Eleanore B. Freeman.
Sherry graduated from Maury High School, class of 1969. Sherry was a loyal and trusted employee at State Farm Insurance Company for 42 years.
Sherry was married to her husband, Jimmy D. Houser, on Sept. 13, 1986. Sherry and Jimmy were married for a wonderful 32 years. They resided in Troy; Dunedin, Florida; and Virginia Beach. Sherry and Jimmy enjoyed playing bingo and visiting casinos. Sherry had many friendships and lived a very happy and vivacious life.
Sherry was preceded in death by both of her parents and is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy D. Houser; son, Kenny Singleton; daughter-in-law, Michelle Singleton; and granddaughter, Savannah Singleton; loving sister, Brenda Keller; niece, Kimberly Keller Clarke, and her husband, Hunter Holmes Clarke II; great-nephews, Hunter Holmes Clarke III, Paul Keller, and his significant other, Taunya, Keith Keller, and his wife, Marilyn Keller, and Tyler; great-nieces, Guiliana and Gabriella; sister-in-law, Sandra Singletary, and her husband, Roy Singletary; nieces, Jennifer Singletary and Kristan Singletary Hayworth, and her husband, Kit Hayworth; sister-in-law, Beverly Sullivan, and her husband, Steve Sullivan; niece, Rebecca Smith, and her husband, Bryan Smith; great-nephew, Ethan Smith; and great-niece, Claira Smith. The family would like to express gratitude and love for cousins, Mark and Cindy Summs; longtime friend, Dana Alexson; and nurse and caretaker, Lakeisha Moore.
A celebration of life for Sherry will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.
