Diane M. ‘Dede’ Striffler, 67, lost her battle with cancer Friday, July 13, 2018, and is now playing golf in heaven. Dede was a graduate of Frank W. Cox High School (1968) and Virginia Intermont College (1972) with a degree in physical education. She taught physical education at Virginia Beach Junior High and John B. Dey Elementary. She was an avid golfer and talented woodworker.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, retired Capt. Paul C. Striffler; two sons and their spouses, Bryce (Kristen) and Brett (Emily); and her three grandchildren, Connor, Addison and Cora.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Dede’s funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 19, at H.D. Oliver Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. A fitting “golf course casual” attire for the service and burial is encouraged.
