Elma Beatrice Stephens Wimbish, 81, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, to be with her Lord and Savior. Elma was born in Pittsylvania County to the late David and Sylvia Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Beauford Mickey Wimbish. They joined in matrimony April 21, 1954, and were married until his passing Nov. 2, 1987; son, Rexford P. Wimbish; and siblings, Gladys Goodrum, Clarence, Williard, Robert “Uncle Nat,” Jesse.
She retired from Nabisco after 35 years and later worked as a greeter with Walmart. She was a member of New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church. She loved singing and spending time with her family and her church family. She was a member of the Addie Hammond’s Senior’s Ministry Club and self-appointed transportation ministry director.
She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Wimbish and Ramona W. Robinson, and her husband, James L. Robinson; son, Stephen Derek Wimbish, and his wife, DeAnne Wimbish; daughter-in-law, Evelyn P. Wimbish; sisters, Sylvia Hall, Mable Cradle and Louise Overton; brother, Luke “Uncle Bunny” Stephens; grandchildren, Ivan A. Wimbish, Gavin C. Robinson and Noah J. Robinson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5549 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
