Rouie Smith Miller, 80, taught public school for 32 years

Rouie Smith Miller entered eternal life on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at the age of 80 years.

She was born in Bishopville, S.C., on Aug. 26, 1936, to J. Manly Smith and Fay Truluck Smith. Rouie taught public school for 32 years.

Left to cherish Rouie’s memory are her husband of 60 years, William Marshall Miller Sr.; son, William Marshall Miller Jr.; daughter, Rouie Isabel “Belle” Humphrey, and her husband, James; granddaughter, Regina Fay Washington, and her husband, Gary; grandson, William Marshall Miller III; granddaughter, Kelly Shumaker, and her husband, R.J.; grandson, James Jared Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Lillian Grace Washington and Riley Rae Shumaker; brother, Paul Smith; sister, Isabel Smith; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Rouie will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 31, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 419 Glenrock Road, Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday in the church sanctuary. Private interment at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, will be held at a later time.
