Reynaldo P. “Rey” Annet, 83, passed away, Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.

Rey was born on June 5, 1933, in Ternate, Philippines. As an ambitious young man, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1955. He married Bella Del Rosario on Oct. 6, 1963. He was stationed in Norfolk and moved his family to the United States in 1969. He established his roots in Virginia Beach, retiring from the Navy in 1977. He was employed as a civil servant working at the Naval Aviation Depot, Norfolk, before finally retiring in 1995.

Rey devoted his life to his family and was a truly loving husband and father. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and his influence can been seen in all of them. His love for the outdoors was spent fishing and gardening.

Rey is survived by his wife, Bella Annet; three children, Marybelle Utter, Rod Annet and Elizabeth Quigley; sons-in-law, Chris Quigley and Larry Utter; daughter-in-law, Kristen Annet; and six grandchildren, Jordan, Eric, Larry, Hunter, Kelsey and Lauren.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel, 3445 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at St. John’s The Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. A military ceremony will be performed to honor his 22 years of U.S. Naval service.
