Shirley Graham Ward, 83, cherished her time working at Hope Haven’s Children’s Home

Shirley Graham Ward, 83, affectionately known as “Sweet Grandma” and “Grandma Shirley,” of the 700 block of Carmel Street in Pungo, Va., was called to her eternal home on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016.

She was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Sanford, N.C., to the late Jack and Omie Stone. She was preceded in death by her first loving husband, Ralph Graham; second loving husband, Ernest Ward; son, Bruce Graham; grandson, Lance Graham; and siblings, David, Eunice, John Henry, Magalene, Edward and Lemuel.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Danny and Avery; grandchildren, Blake (Kelly), Shane and Lark; great-grandchildren, Collin, Gunnar and Cullen; two step-daughters, Annalisa “Pete” (David) and Brenda (Chris); step-grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan), Courtney (Sean), Nicole, Mary (Jamie) and Chris Jr.; step-great-grandchildren, Alex, Lilly, Annalisa and Autumn; many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Shirley was devoted to God, her family and her church. Shirley was an avid bowler who loved gardening and working in her yard. She cherished her time working at Hope Haven’s Children’s Home, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 691 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23457.
