Lois Marie Yearick, 92, worked as a teacher while traveling the world

Lois Marie Yearick, 92, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, in Seaside Atlantic Shores. Mrs. Yearick was born in Westfield, Mass., and was the daughter of the late Louis and Florence Andrews

A graduate of the Connecticut College for Women, she was a school teacher who taught in school systems around the world while traveling with her late husband, Cmdr. William Yearick, during his naval career. She was exceptionally gifted in math and science and was very well known as a tutor for many years.

She also was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Andrews.

Lois is survived by a son, William Yearick, and his wife, Demaris; two grandchildren, William Yearick Jr., and his wife, Vanessa, of Virginia Beach and Emily McCahill, and her husband, Brian, of Roanoke; and five great-grandchildren, Claire, Parker, Quinn, Trey and James.

The family would like to thank her caregivers and the staff at ComfortCare Home Health and Hospice for their help and support.

Services will be private.
