Sallie H. Copenhaver, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016.
Born in Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Vida V. Hankins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Christensen; and brother, Thomas Hankins.
Sallie was a lifelong member of Plaza United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school class and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Ira E. “Bill” Copenhaver; son, Scott Copenhaver, and his wife, Liz; son-in-law, Ray Christensen; brother, Johnnie Hankins; grandson, Robert Smith, and his wife, Melissa; great-grandsons, Gavin and Dylan; and several extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Janet James officiating. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
